Privacy Policy

SceneFolio is a movie taste-archiving app for rating films, discovering your taste, completing quests, and building your cinema profile. This policy explains the information SceneFolio processes and how it is used.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create or sign in to an account, SceneFolio processes your email address and authentication identifiers needed to operate the account through Supabase Auth. If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides authentication identity information used to sign you in, such as your Google account email and basic profile information made available by the sign-in flow.

Movie activity and profile data. SceneFolio stores movie states such as Watched, Want, and Skipped; Tier ratings; optional movie thoughts; activity timestamps; Quest progress and claimed rewards; XP and cinema-profile progress; and earned or equipped badges.

Local presentation data. SceneFolio keeps user-scoped presentation snapshots on your device to improve loading reliability. This local data is cleared after successful account deletion.

Discover usage analytics. SceneFolio stores bounded session summaries that may include cards seen, action counts, session duration, timing to key actions, Tier distribution, starter-deck usage, and the titles of the first 10 movies displayed in a session. SceneFolio does not intentionally store user-written movie thoughts, device advertising identifiers, or a full raw swipe-event history in this analytics table.

Support requests. If you use the public Support page, SceneFolio stores the email address, subject, and message you submit so the request can be reviewed and handled.

How we use information

• operate and secure your account;
• maintain your archive, ratings, taste profile, Quests, XP, and badges;
• generate and improve movie recommendations;
• restore user-scoped presentation state;
• understand and improve onboarding and Discover through session-level product metrics; and
• respond to support and privacy inquiries.

Service providers and movie data

SceneFolio uses Supabase for authentication, database, backend infrastructure, and Edge Functions; Google for optional Google sign-in; EAS Hosting for these public legal and support pages; and TMDB for movie metadata and images. When local movie search does not return enough results, the movie title or other search text you enter can be sent to TMDB to return search results; movie-detail requests can also send the selected TMDB movie identifier. SceneFolio does not attach your Supabase user ID, email, ratings, thoughts, Quest progress, XP, or badges to those TMDB requests.

Data retention

Account and user-created data is retained as needed to operate SceneFolio. Support requests may be retained as needed to resolve the inquiry and maintain a reasonable support record. Limited data may be retained where legitimately required for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or backup recovery.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account in the app through Profile > Delete Account, or use the public account deletion page using Google or email/password sign-in. Successful deletion removes the Supabase Auth user and associated user-owned SceneFolio database records handled by the deletion system. It does not delete global movie-catalog records, TMDB source data, or unrelated third-party data.

Security

SceneFolio uses authenticated access, row-level database controls, restricted database grants, and server-side privileged operations. No electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
